iTENS is a Bluetooth-connected pain relief device. We designed the companion app that controls device settings, manages pain programmes, and tracks treatment sessions over time.
The primary users are people in pain — often elderly. The interface had to be completely intuitive under duress, with zero tolerance for confusion when someone is trying to manage a pain episode.
We ran contextual user research with 12 chronic pain patients. Every interaction was optimised for one-thumb use with large tap targets and minimal cognitive load. The design system was built for accessibility from day one.
